Frequently asked questions
What is ElevenPlusOwl?
11+ Maths and English practice for children, with worked explanations after every answer, and progress insight for parents, including a parent-only AI that helps you decide what to practise next. It is made by a small UK startup in London and is in a free beta.
Who is it for?
Children aged 7 to 11 (Year 3 to Year 6) practising Maths and English, and their parents.
Is it free, and how do I join?
It is free during the beta, with no card needed. Create a parent account to add your child and start practising, or try 10 questions without an account. After launch we plan a monthly subscription; the price is not set yet.
Which 11+ exams does it help with?
It covers 11+ Maths: 105 skills across 10 topics, mapped to the KS2 National Curriculum, at five levels from Year 3 foundations to independent-school challenge. It is general 11+ Maths practice rather than practice for one exam board, and every question is original. There are also free Learn pages and revision sheets for every topic.
What English can my child practise?
English practice covers reading, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and spelling, with multiple-choice questions and explanations after each answer. Create a parent account and choose English in the child area. The free English Learn pages include short lessons, worked examples and printable revision boxes.
Can my child practise writing too?
The writing a scene and purposeful writing and editing lessons have tasks to try on paper, with examples and guidance to discuss afterwards. Writing has many good answers; these tasks are not automatically marked.
Does AI insight cover English?
Yes. On the AI Overview in the parent area, you can choose Maths or English. English insight uses your child’s English practice results, and you pick from set English questions, as you do for Maths. It is optional and for parents only, and it stays off until you allow AI sharing for that child. Children never chat with an AI.
Which subjects are coming next?
Maths and English are available now. Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and 1:1 Tuition are coming soon; we have not set launch dates yet.
How does the AI help parents?
The AI insight is optional and for parents only. It stays off until you opt in to AI sharing separately for each child. Choose Maths or English, then pick from set questions to understand what is going well and what to focus on next, using a summary of your child's practice results. There is no free-text AI question box. We do not send your child's saved nickname, your email address or contact details. You can turn AI off at any time and still use practice and results. Children never chat with an AI, and their data is never used to train AI models. The insight uses Claude, Anthropic's AI model. Claude also helps us draft original questions, which are checked by code.
Is my child's data safe?
Children's privacy comes first. Accounts belong to parents, there is no messaging between children or with strangers, no adverts and minimal data collection. We only set essential cookies, to keep a parent signed in, and you can delete a child's data at any time from the parent area. You can also delete your whole account there: this permanently removes your account, every child on it and all their practice results and AI history. Read our privacy notice for the details.
Do I need to sit with my child?
No. Once you have added your child in the parent area, they can practise on their own in short 10-question rounds with instant feedback and worked solutions. Starting practice puts the device in child mode, and your parent PIN is needed to get back to the parent area. There you can see their scores by topic, mistake patterns and recent rounds.
How do mock tests work?
Sign in or create a parent account, then choose your child. Maths benchmarks offer suggested durations; they are not currently timed. Supported target-school profiles are drafts, with general Maths practice available when no suitable profile exists. The Maths benchmarks use original practice questions.
