Who we are
ElevenPlusOwl is an early-stage UK startup based in London, and is responsible for the information described in this notice. Contact: hello@elevenplusowl.com.
What we collect during the beta
If you email us, we keep your name, email address and the details you choose to send. We do not collect any information directly from children on this website.
Parent accounts (beta)
If you create a parent account we store your email address, a securely hashed password and a hashed parent PIN. To stop repeated sign-ups, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) form of the internet address a sign-up came from. If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us your verified email address and an account ID, and we store that ID so you can sign in with Google again; we never receive your Google password, contacts or anything else from your Google account. For each child you add we store the nickname and school year you choose, and their practice answers: which question, the option picked, whether it was right, the time taken and the date. We also save the badges, medals and Surprise Feathers they earn, with the date earned. English practice answers are stored in the same way as Maths answers. We use this only to show you your child's progress. If you ask to reset your password, we send the reset link to your email address through our email service, Resend. You can delete a child's data at any time from the parent area. You can delete your account at any time from the parent area: this permanently removes your account, every child on it and all their practice results and AI history.
Where your information is stored
ElevenPlusOwl runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the website and stores and processes the information described in this notice for us.
AI insight
When you choose an approved question in the parent area, we send that fixed question and a summary of that child's practice results (school year, scores, mistake patterns, and the stars, level, streak and badges they've earned; the saved nickname and account identifiers are omitted) to Anthropic, which provides the Claude AI model we use, so it can write an answer. We do not add your account email, contact details or the child’s saved nickname to the AI summary. There is no free-text AI question box. Only approved questions and recorded practice topics can be sent; typed questions, arbitrary conversation text and browser-written insight cards are rejected. Follow-up questions only reuse answers our server created, for up to an hour; we do not store AI conversations in our database. Children cannot use the AI insight.
AI is off until you explicitly allow sharing for the selected child and the named provider. You can decline and still use Maths practice and results. We record your choice, the notice you saw and its version, provider, child/account references and time, including later changes. Disable AI for this child in the parent area to stop future requests and clear the current page’s AI conversation and cards. This does not recall requests already sent or guarantee immediate deletion by the provider. A different provider or notice version needs a matching new opt-in. Consent records are deleted when you delete that child’s data.
Anthropic’s standard API retention is normally up to 30 days, with exceptions under its terms. Provider retention is separate from our own storage; see the provider’s terms for details.
Why we use it
To run your parent account and show you your child's progress, and to reply if you email us. We never sell your details or use them for advertising. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
Until the beta ends or you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data by emailing us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We only use essential cookies: the small files a website needs to work, such as keeping you signed in. The law does not require us to ask before setting them, so you will not see a cookie pop-up on ElevenPlusOwl.
- bep_s keeps you signed in to your parent account. It lasts 30 days, or until you sign out.
- bep_g is set only if you choose Continue with Google. It protects the sign-in from being tampered with and lasts up to 10 minutes.
- bep_gp is set only when you create an account with Google. It holds your sign-in while you choose a PIN, lasts up to 10 minutes and is removed once your account is ready.
While your child does a practice round, the round in progress is kept in your browser tab, so a refresh carries on where they left off. It is deleted when the tab is closed.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not let other companies set cookies on our site. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
